Ferris Nassif. He studied at Muscatine Junior College, Drake University, the Chicago Art Institute, and at the University of Iowa in Iowa City where he did post graduate work in special education. He managed his father's business with his mother after his father's death, taught art and special education in schools in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for seven years. Gary became a sculptor for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and its founder, Danny Thomas. He created the renowned bronze, "The Jeremiah Children," as a symbol of hope for the children. Gary fought and won a life-long battle with stuttering, fear, and low self-esteem. As a result of writing Stop Crying and Listen to the Music, a memoir, Gary discovered that he had unlimited potential all along and the ability to exchange bad for good. Tiffy and Cheryl Bandera, twin sisters, begin their career advertising buy-one-get-one cheeseburgers. Their magnetic appeal is palpable, but before making their recording debut, they decide to go solo-in a manner of speaking. The sisters split time as Tiffy, one of the most famous entertainers in the history of pop-culture. In response to the Milli Vanilli scandal, and lest they be discovered, a clever recasting decision is made-Cheryl becomes a martial artist and appears with Tiffy under the pretense of being her security double. This new relationship between the sisters begins to affect their PR, and fans grow to see Tiffy as an aloof, ungrateful megastar. Thus, the novel picks up the action with the sisters' creation of a win-a-date contest. They gently rig it to weed out the sociopaths, and the unassuming Brian Gullen wins the contest. Cheryl manages the vetting process and, incredibly, Brian's abductee experiences, psychic abilities and split-personality don't sound any serious warning bells. Cheryl is more than receptive, even intrigued. He's a nice guy, and it's telegraphed early that he will probably wind up with at least one of the sisters. Brian's tales of the planet Quartzon and the adventure they have on its forest moon make for some authentically cool science-fiction, but the early narrative too easily shifts from the story proper to Brian's correspondences, to a character's dreams, to a slew of confusing conversations. The prose is clear and the tone witty, but the organization and particulars are often muddied by stock lamentations about scientists and skeptics' dismissal of UFOs. However, Agar has an uncanny ability to create eccentric characters whose concerns are nonetheless down-to-earth. Even the Mongeese, a once proud warrior race from another galaxy, are sympathetic in human terms. There are more than a few howlers, blessedly intentional, like when Cheryl makes a less than romantic bargain with Brian (eventually known as Bryan) for DNA exchange. Father's Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves gift-giving, special dinners to fathers, and family-oriented activities. The first observance of Father's Day is believed to have been held on July 5, 1908 in a church located in Fairmont, West Virginia, by Dr. Robert Webb of West Virginia at the Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South of Fairmont. The church still exists under the name of Central United Methodist Church. Sonora Smart Dodd of Washington thought independently of the holiday one Sunday in 1909 while listening to a Mother's Day sermon at the Central Methodist Episcopal Church at Spokane, and she arranged a tribute for her father on June 19, 1910. She was the first to solicit the idea of having an official Father's Day observance to honor all fathers. It took many years to make the holiday official. In spite of support from the YWCA, the YMCA and churches, it ran the risk of disappearing from the calendar. Where Mother's Day was met with enthusiasm, Father's Day was met with laughter. The holiday was gathering attention slowly, but for the wrong reasons. It was the target of much satire, parody and derision, including jokes from the local newspaper Spokesman-Review. Initially a revival of NBC's Dimension X (1950-51), X Minus One is widely considered among the finest science fiction dramas ever produced for radio. The first 15 episodes were new versions of Dimension X episodes, but the remainder were adaptations by NBC staff writers, including Ernest Kinoy and George Lefferts, of newly published science fiction stories by leading writers in the field, including Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, Robert A. Heinlein, Frederik Pohl and Theodore Sturgeon along with some original scripts by Kinoy and Lefferts. Episodes of the show include adaptations of Robert Sheckley's "Skulking Permit," Bradbury's "Mars Is Heaven," Heinlein's "Universe" and "The Green Hills of Earth", " Pohl's "The Tunnel under the World," J. Within the UFO community he is often regarded as one of the leading experts on the reported crash of a UFO near Roswell, New Mexico in July 1947. Randle began writing about UFOs while still serving in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot. In 1975 he was asked by Jim Lorenzen to investigate the wave of cattle mutilations that were sweeping the Midwest and west. By the early 1980s, Randle was disillusioned by the UFO field. Hundreds of thousands of reports had been collected, but all seemed to be the same as those collected before. Another investigation of a light in the night sky or a disk seen during the day was not going to advance knowledge of the phenomena. During the 1990s, Randle clashed with a number of other UFO researchers, most notably Stan Friedman. Randle had found little to support the idea of a second "Roswell" crash on the Plains of San Agustin, a theory endorsed and supported by Friedman. Although Randle was the first to speak to Gerald Anderson, a man who claimed first-hand knowledge of the events on the Plains, it was Friedman who spent the most time investigating Anderson's story.
